DESIGN TIP #3
BECOMING VISUALLY AWARE

Below is a list of suggestions to help you learn to "see," to promote visual awareness, and to sensitize you to design
as a tool for good communication.

1. Look at flyers on a busy bulletin board. Which ones catch your eye? Pick out the elements that make you take notice. Which ones get lost? Why?

2. Set up a file with logos, brochures, flyers, newsletters that you find appealing. What is it that makes them appealing?

3. Type is an essential ingredient in all graphic design/visual communication. Look at type in magazines and newspapers. Can you identify a trend in type use today? Become aware of type used in headlines, body copy.
